Zimmer Frame Marathon Man

Hats off to 99 year old Tom Moore. He’s the old b***** who decided to walk 100 laps of his garden on his Zimmer frame to raise £1,000 for NHS support services at 10 laps a day finishing on his birthday on Thursday. So far he has just passed his target – well actually he has raised £3,000,000 (that’s 3 million pounds for those who are not very good at maths) so he reckons he will do another 100 laps after his birthday as a thank you to those who have supported him with their dosh.

Rather a nice story but obviously a very determined old blighter which perhaps explains why he is still going strong at 99. Ex army man and I bet you would not have wanted to cross him in his earlier days!

Maybe just a lot of sentiment on their part but rather nice so many people put their hand in their pocket to support him. Well done all.

Bonus day on the home front as well. Since this old git is not supposed to go to the shops on the orders of Supreme Commander Boris I have been trying without luck to book a supermarket home delivery slot. Hollow laughs all round. Asda show all the slots just for the next 7 days and then tell you they are all fully booked. Tesco are more helpful – they give you all the slots up to May 4th, but they are all fully booked. Morrisons had declined to deliver to this area at all but did helpfully say there was a waiting list of 26,000 if they would deliver to your area.

However Junior Management here idly flicking through the site spied that Morrisons declared that they would now deliver to this locality and by some fluke nipped in and booked a slot ahead of the 26,000. Therefore an order has been speedily dispatched including slightly superior reinforcements to the whites section of the wine cellar.

Exhausted by this burst of activity I have just poured myself an evening glass of a nice Rioja – Baron De Barbon 2018. Very acceptable.

Cheers!
