The Great Educator

Further to the teaching unions who seem to be anti schools, anti teaching and especially anti children we have the mighty one referred to in the title. I hear this headmaster, when threatened that he might have to admit a few children back into his school, hastily sent a message to all their parents. In this he proclaimed that he was very happy for all his pupils to miss a year’s schooling if it prevented the chance of just one of them dying. This I assume meant that he was happy to award himself and his staff a 12 month holiday, never mind the lasting damage to his pupils education. Or putting it another way – this would be a really nice school to work in if it weren’t for the children. Nice work if you can get it.

Now turning to another class of workers potentially at risk in doing their job in these times. I refer to the delivery men and couriers who have had to improvise methods of delivery and certification, some of which I have previously described. Yesterday our cheery chappie from APC arrived with a parcel that under normal circumstances needed to be signed for. Apparently this order for a replacement grill pan (ordered by Junior Management without prior authority) was deemed to be so valuable as to still need absolute proof of delivery. A problem? Not a bit of it! Our cheeky chappie rocked up, caught the attention of Junior management, and placed the package on the ground. He then retreated several yards and asked Junior Management to pick up the parcel and stand still holding it by the side. He then whipped out his iPhone and snapped the parcel being held including a bit of background but carefully missing out head and shoulders, to avoid breaking protocol. Proof of delivery – where there is a will there is a way. The man has a future. It did remind me of a photo my father in law took of my mother in law on the wedding day. Similar omission – my favourite photo that I asked for several copies of – never got them.

And to finish on a serious note my ordered wine delivery has still not arrived so critical situation developing.
