A Touch Of Reality

Yes I am referring to those pretentious pygmies otherwise known as MP’s. I gather a number of them objected to have to socially distanced queue to vote. Welcome to the real world of how the other 99% live. Or rather those of the 99% who are allowed the privilege of going out to stand in a queue.

Apparently these underpaid downtrodden individuals thought they ought to be allowed to sit at home with their feet up and send in their vote remotely. And even if social distances is enforced they would be at risk. Why they would be more at risk than everyone else who goes to work was not actually explained. What was explained was why it would be so difficult for so many of them to actually turn up for work like anyone else. Lets look at it and compare with the rest of the country.

My constituency/nice home in the country is a long way away from Westminster and travel is very difficult. Well you knew that when you applied to be a candidate and there were plenty of others who applied for your job. In any case you can come and settle down in your nice tax payer funded residence in London that you have. Forget about “and if I do that my constituency members will be disadvantaged”. Parliament has long periods when it is not sitting so you can go back and do a stint there instead of going on holiday.

I will have childcare problems. Just a minute, so does everyone else going back to work. In any case you knew what the job was when you applied and if you were not prepared to sort out family matters you should not have applied in the first case. And in case you have overlooked it you are not someone on minimum wages earning 15/20 thousand – you are on around £80,000 with up to another £50,000 in expenses on top of that. Nice work if you can get it.

There is a “vulnerable person” somewhere in my household. Easy, do what hundreds of thousands of “normal people” in the same situation have done and isolate yourself from them, or them from you. And before the I’ve got children card is played they are the least likely group to catch it.

I am classified as “high risk”. Different here and it should not be too difficult to make arrangements for those MP’s so classified. Ironic however that I note several in this group have stated that they will be attending and blow the risk as this is the job!

Even more ironic is the fact that the government have said that MPs should be present in person to question Ministers but those MPs don’t seem keen to ask the difficult questions (or give their support when Ministers have got it right)

It is a simple message to MPs -give an example to everyone and GET BACK TO WORK.
