So finally a bit of movement allowed in Wales. At last we can go more than 5 miles And maybe, possibly, when Lord Drakeford finally allows it we may be allowed one or two pleasures. Don’t hold your breath waiting but at least it is a start. Not that standing in the drizzle in the back yard of the local pub with a pint is automatically my idea of heaven but there we are.
On Saturday the caravan moved on again on it’s epic journey round the estate, a good eleven feet this week. New views to look at over a nice three course meal cooked by Senior Management. Greatly daring we tried a bottle of French red wine. Top French wine is of course superb but although the French have by and large stopped sending over the worst of their pig swill the average ordinary bottle still lacks character. So this one we approached cautiously given the tripe written on the label. From the South it was a Rex Mundi Shiraz Grenache 2019. Named apparently after the forgotten Cathar king of the world of forbidden pleasures it promised to stain your soul and leave you forever in its grip. Well it did not quite live up to that but at 13.5% it had plenty of character, quite fruity but interestingly a little bite that lingered there afterwards. Well worth a sample if you come across it at under a tenner. French bottled I can only assume the drivel on the label, in English, was written by a drunken ex pat in return for being allowed to get pickled on it as his fee.
How did we celebrate Freedom Day? I made a run across the border for a haircut in that foreign land ruled over by Prince Boris, where I was told of the joys of life in that semi liberated kingdom.
However to mark Freedom Day this blog is going suspend publications for now as readers can look to the future. Hope reading these posts have helped a bit to pass the time.
